Excessive Sweating Treatment Methods

One condition that affects millions of people around the world regardless of age and gender is hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. It affects around 3% of the entire population. If you're one of them, then surely you would like to know how to stop sweating so much.

There are various treatment methods available for this debilitating condition. Some may be better for you while for some it won't work. It may depend on your lifestyle and the severity of your excessive sweating.

The most common forms of hyperhidrosis are axillary (armpits or underarms), palmar (hands), plantar (feet) and craniofacial (head, forehead, scalp). If you sweat from any or all of these areas, you have a primary focal hyperhidrosis, which means that the excessive sweating itself is the condition that you should be treating.

The other type of hyperhidrosis is secondary generalized hyperhidrosis. This means that your hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is caused by a medical condition or caused by any medication that you may be taking. Knowing what kind of hyperhidrosis you have is essential in determining how to cure or stop it.

If you have a primary focal hyperhidrosis, then your treatment options are antiperspirants, botox, iontophoresis, oral medication, change in lifestyle or natural/holistic methods and lastly, surgery. Antiperspirants are usually the first option when treating excessive sweating because it is easy to use and readily available. If antiperspirants do not produce the desired results, you may try the other options.

Iontophoresis is a device that send mild electrical currents to the affected part of the body in hope of stopping the excessive sweat. Oral medications are prescribed by doctors so you should consult one before buying. Botox is a form of surgery that can have great results but these results usually only lasts around 5 to 7 months.

Natural or holistic methods are methods where you are guided on how to live a healthier life and in turn stops excessive sweating. This is great because while you are preventing sweating you are becoming healthier.

Surgery should be the last option. If your hyperhidrosis is extreme and all the above methods don't work, you can try surgery.

Excessive sweating can be cured and as you can see, there are many treatment options available for you.
